Nic Claxton
Nic Claxton plays 22 minutes in season finale
Sun, Apr 13, 2025, 10:08 AM
Nic Claxton tallied 12 points (5-of-6 FGs, 2-of-3 FTs) and two rebounds in 22 minutes in Sunday's loss to the Knicks.
Analysis: After a disappointing start to the season, Claxton was able to redeem himself steadily. The Nets center finished as a seventh-round player in free-throw punt builds, which is only one round worse than his Yahoo! ADP. That said, Claxton's rebounding and blocked shot production decreased, with the averages of 7.4 rebounds and 1.4 blocks being the lowest for him since the 2021-22 campaign. He'll remain a key building block for the Nets next season, but the team is undoubtedly hoping that he'll be more effective on the glass and as a defender.
Nic Claxton
BKN starting Martin, Keon, Wilson, Watford, Clax
Sun, Apr 13, 2025, 6:48 AM
NBA Lineups
Tyrese Martin, Keon Johnson, Jalen Wilson, Trendon Watford and Nic Claxton will start Sunday's game against the Knicks.
Analysis: Claxton is back after sitting out Friday's loss to the Timberwolves. While Precious Achiuwa should be a good matchup for him, fantasy managers in active leagues should assume Claxton will not log starters' minutes in the regular-season finale. Johnson, Watford and Wilson offer decent fantasy ceilings for Sunday's loaded schedule.
Ziaire Williams
Ziaire Williams, Reece Beekman out Sunday vs. NYK
Sun, Apr 13, 2025, 5:37 AM
Ziaire Williams (knee) and Reece Beekman (calf) have been ruled out for Sunday's game against the Knicks.
Analysis: Jalen Wilson will likely notch another start with Williams out of commission. Tyson Etienne is the prime candidate to fill in as the Nets' starting point guard.
Nic Claxton
Nic Claxton (rest) off injury report vs. Knicks
Sat, Apr 12, 2025, 9:45 AM
NBA Injury Report
Nic Claxton (rest) is not on the injury report against the Knicks on Sunday.
Analysis: Claxton got the night off on Friday but will be back for the season finale. He should return to the starting center role, which will push Drew Timme to a reserve role. However, with Day'Ron Sharpe and Noah Clowney sidelined, Timme should still play plenty of minutes.
Day'Ron Sharpe
Day'Ron Sharpe (knee) ruled out vs. New York
Sat, Apr 12, 2025, 9:25 AM
NBA Injury Report
Day'Ron Sharpe (knee) is out against the Knicks on Sunday.
Analysis: Unsurprisingly, Sharpe, who hasn't played since March 24, will remain sidelined for Brooklyn's season finale. Expect Drew Timme to continue to dominate the minutes at center in a meaningless game for the Nets.
D'Angelo Russell
D'Angelo Russell (ankle) out again vs. New York
Sat, Apr 12, 2025, 9:23 AM
NBA Injury Report
D'Angelo Russell (ankle) has been ruled out against the Knicks on Sunday.
Analysis: Russell will miss a fifth-straight game to close out the season for Brooklyn. Reece Beekman (calf) and Tyson Etienne are both candidates to play significant roles for the shorthanded Nets.
Cameron Johnson
Cameron Johnson (back) out against vs. New York
Sat, Apr 12, 2025, 9:22 AM
NBA Injury Report
Cameron Johnson (back) is out against the Knicks on Sunday.
Analysis: Johnson hasn't played since March 29 and won't return for the regular season finale, which isn't surprising. Trendon Watford and Tosan Evbuomwan will continue to fill out plenty of minutes at the forward spots.
Ziaire Williams
Ziaire Williams, Reece Beekman questionable vs. NY
Sat, Apr 12, 2025, 9:21 AM
NBA Injury Report
Ziaire Williams (knee) and Reece Beekman (calf) are questionable to play against the Knicks on Sunday.
Analysis: Williams missed Friday's game against Minnesota, which allowed Jalen Wilson to start. He should remain in that role if Williams remains out. Beekman has been starting at point guard and should continue to do so if he plays. If he's unavailable, Tyson Etienne is a candidate to move into the starting unit.
Trendon Watford
Trendon Watford scores 15 points vs. Minnesota
Fri, Apr 11, 2025, 5:30 PM
Trendon Watford accounted for 15 points (7-of-15 FGs), eight rebounds, four assists and one three-pointer in 32 minutes in Friday's loss to the Timberwolves.
Analysis: Watford is one of the Nets whose playing time has increased recently, as the front office has prioritized the draft lottery over winning games. His ability to provide value across the board makes Watford a player worth having during the “silly season,” especially when he's in the starting lineup. Friday's defeat ensured Brooklyn of the sixth-best odds to win next month's draft lottery. The Nets host the Knicks in Sunday's regular-season finale.
Jalen Wilson
Jalen Wilson records 14/9/3/0/1 line vs. MIN
Fri, Apr 11, 2025, 5:30 PM
Jalen Wilson amassed 14 points (5-of-12 FGs), nine rebounds, three assists, one block and four three-pointers in 35 minutes in Friday's loss to the Timberwolves.
Analysis: After dropping 20 points in Thursday's loss to the Hawks, Wilson cooled off a bit on Friday. However, he still offered value in the rebound and three-point categories, and the second-year forward has reached double figures in four of his last five appearances. Starter Cameron Johnson has not appeared in a game since March 29. While he hasn't been ruled out for Sunday's game against the Knicks yet, it's challenging to envision Cam playing. Wilson's chances of starting the regular-season finale are pretty high, and he would be worth rostering in active leagues.
Keon Johnson
Keon Johnson leads Nets with 20 points Friday
Fri, Apr 11, 2025, 5:29 PM
Keon Johnson finished Friday's loss to the Timberwolves with 20 points (5-of-7 FGs, 8-of-8 FTs), five rebounds, six assists, one steal and two three-pointers in 24 minutes.
Analysis: Johnson has reached double figures in scoring in six of his last seven appearances, including two of 20 points or more. Friday's performance was one of his best this season, as the Nets guard only missed two shots from the field. In addition to the points, Johnson provided solid value in rebounds, assists and three-pointers. Going into Sunday's season finale against the Knicks, the concern is playing time, as Johnson only logged 24 minutes. He's played 25 minutes or less in four straight games, as players like Reece Beekman (11/2/3/3 with one three-pointer in 31 minutes) and Dariq Whitehead (6/2/2/1 with two three-pointers in 20 minutes) pick up additional playing time.
Nic Claxton
Nic Claxton, Ziaire Williams out Friday vs. MIN
Fri, Apr 11, 2025, 8:51 AM
Nic Claxton (rest) and Ziaire Williams (knee) have been ruled out for Friday's game against the Timberwolves.
Analysis: The Nets will be very shorthanded against the Timberwolves. Drew Timme and Maxwell Lewis are two players fantasy managers should keep an eye on as potential starters. Timme has legitimate upside for the rest of the season given his lack of competition at center.
Cameron Johnson
Cameron Johnson (back) out Friday vs. Minnesota
Thu, Apr 10, 2025, 5:53 PM
C.J. Holmes
Cameron Johnson (back) is out for Friday's game against the Timberwolves.
Analysis: Johnson has not appeared in a game since March 29, and that won't change on Friday. The Nets forward won't even travel with the team; instead, he will remain in Brooklyn. Trendon Watford and Tosan Evbuomwan will continue to handle the minutes that would have gone to Johnson, with the former sticking in the starting lineup.
D'Angelo Russell
D'Angelo Russell (ankle) out Friday vs. Minnesota
Thu, Apr 10, 2025, 5:48 PM
C.J. Holmes
D'Angelo Russell (ankle) is out against the Timberwolves on Friday.
Analysis: Russell will not travel with the team for Friday's game. Reece Beekman should remain in the starting lineup, with Tyson Etienne playing rotation minutes off the bench. And that may be Brooklyn's point guard rotation for Sunday's finale against the Knicks, as Russell has only appeared in eight games since March 13.
Day'Ron Sharpe
Day'Ron Sharpe (knee) out Friday vs. Minnesota
Thu, Apr 10, 2025, 5:45 PM
C.J. Holmes
Day'Ron Sharpe (knee) is out for Friday's game against the Timberwolves.
Analysis: Sharpe will not travel with the team for Brooklyn's final road game of the season. He hasn't appeared in a game since March 24, and it would be unsurprising if Sharpe were also held out of Sunday's home finale against the Knicks. Expect plenty of Drew Timme, even if he comes off the bench.
Jalen Wilson
Jalen Wilson leads Nets with 20 points in defeat
Thu, Apr 10, 2025, 4:44 PM
Jalen Wilson tallied 20 points (6-of-10 FGs, 2-of-4 FTs), four rebounds, three assists, one steal and six three-pointers in 24 minutes in Thursday's loss to the Hawks.
Analysis: While the Nets were blown out on Thursday, the bench kept things somewhat respectable. Wilson led four reserves in double figures with 20 points, the second time he's hit that number in his last four appearances. With Brooklyn ruling Cameron Johnson out for Friday's game against the Timberwolves, Wilson will have every opportunity to duplicate Thursday's performance, even if he comes off the bench.
Trendon Watford
Trendon Watford has 22 points in win over Pelicans
Tue, Apr 8, 2025, 4:14 PM
Trendon Watford had 22 points (7-of-8 FGs), three rebounds, five assists and two three-pointers in the Nets' 119-114 victory over the Pelicans on Tuesday.
Analysis: Watford got the start again with Keon Johnson resting Tuesday against the Pelicans. The 24-year-old power forward led the Nets with 22 points as they won by five. Watford played just 23 minutes as the Nets gave significant minutes to all five bench players that were used on Tuesday. That could be the case going forward, though fantasy leagues that are still active for Week 23 should expect the unexpected.
Jalen Wilson
BKN starting Reece, Watford, Wilson, Ziaire, Clax
Tue, Apr 8, 2025, 1:10 PM
C.J. Holmes
Reece Beekman, Trendon Watford, Jalen Wilson, Ziaire Williams and Nic Claxton will start against the Pelicans on Tuesday.
Analysis: Wilson will replace Keon Johnson in the starting lineup, with Johnson getting a rest night. Claxton is back and will immediately return to his typical spot in the starting lineup, which will push Drew Timme to a reserve role.
Nic Claxton
Nic Claxton (rest) removed from injury report
Mon, Apr 7, 2025, 10:31 AM
Erik Slater
Nic Claxton (rest) is not on the injury report for Tuesday's game against the Pelicans.
Analysis: Claxton will be available after sitting out Tuesday's loss to the Raptors for rest reasons. His return means Drew Timme will head to the bench, with the rookie losing some fantasy value. However, Timme will continue to play rotation minutes, especially with Day'Ron Sharpe (knee) still sidelined.
Cameron Johnson
Cameron Johnson, Keon Johnson ruled out Tuesday
Mon, Apr 7, 2025, 10:29 AM
Erik Slater
Cameron Johnson (back) and Keon Johnson (rest) are out for Tuesday's game against the Pelicans.
Analysis: While Keon will get a rest day on Tuesday, Cameron will miss a fourth-straight game with a back injury. Trendon Watford will likely remain in the starting lineup, while Johnson's absence frees up additional minutes for Dariq Whitehead and Maxwell Lewis. One of those two will likely move into the starting five, raising their streaming value in leagues that remain active.
