Cam Thomas
Cam Thomas drops 18 to wrap up breakout campaign
Sun, Apr 14, 2024, 11:17 AM
Cam Thomas shot 5-of-12 from the field in Sunday's loss to the 76ers and finished the game with 18 points, three rebounds, two assists and three triples across 27 minutes.
Analysis: No surprises here as Thomas led Brooklyn in scoring. That's something the third-year guard has done all season, and he finished the breakout campaign with career highs in points (22.5), rebounds (3.2), assists (2.9), three-pointers (2.2) and field goal percentage (44.2). Thomas led Brooklyn in scoring in 2023-24, and over the final month of the season, his 26.5 points per game ranked eighth in the Association. It remains to be seen if he can offer anything to fantasy managers other than inefficient scoring and three-pointers, but the 22-year-old has emerged as a premier bucket-getter who should be great in points leagues moving forward.
Mikal Bridges
Mikal Bridges scores 8 to end disappointing season
Sun, Apr 14, 2024, 11:05 AM
Mikal Bridges turned in eight points (3-of-8 FG), two rebounds, an assist and two triples across 25 minutes Sunday in a 107-86 loss to Philadelphia.
Analysis: Bridges capped off his 2022-23 season with a strong string of performances after his trade to Brooklyn, and his draft stock soared ahead of the 2023-24 campaign. Bridges was regularly drafted as a second-rounder, and managers who took him that high were stung as he finished as fantasy's 90th-ranked player on a per-game basis. Bridges' scoring average fell from 20.1 to 19.7, though his field goal attempts rose slightly from 15.3 to 15.9. Bridges shot 43.6% from the field, marking his least efficient shooting since his rookie season in 2018-19. This season showed that he's better as a team's second or third offensive option rather than its go-to. His defensive stats and percentages suffered, and Bridges' ADP should fall significantly in 2024-25 fantasy drafts. Bridges once again played every game of the season, extending his Cal Ripken-like streak of availability, and he was a top-55 player in totals. Fantasy managers who are apprehensive about his per-game contributions can take solace in the fact that he hasn't missed a game in his NBA career.
Cameron Johnson
Cameron Johnson, Day'Ron Sharpe out Sunday vs. PHI

Evan Barnes on Twitter
Cameron Johnson (left big toe sprain) and Day'Ron Sharpe (right wrist effusion) are out for Sunday's game against the 76ers.
Analysis: The Nets will be severely shorthanded for Sunday's season finale, with Johnson and Sharpe joining a lengthy list of absentees. Noah Clowney and Trendon Watford are two players worth adding to lineups in active leagues, and Cam Thomas could be out for another 40-point game. He scored 46 in a loss to the 76ers in the final game of last season.
Trendon Watford
Trendon Watford posts 17/13/3 line vs. Knicks
Fri, Apr 12, 2024, 4:43 PM
Trendon Watford logged 38 minutes in Friday's loss to the Knicks, tallying 17 points (6-of-10 FGs, 4-of-6 FTs), 13 rebounds, three assists, and one 3-pointer.
Analysis: Watford made his first start of the season on Friday, and while he was responsible for five turnovers, the double-double was encouraging. The 13 rebounds were one shy of his career-high, and the third-year forward recorded his first double-double of the season. With Dennis Schroder and Dorian Finney-Smith ruled out for the remainder of the season, Watford could be in line for another start on Sunday, provided Cameron Johnson (toe) sits.
Cam Thomas
Cam Thomas goes off for game-high 41 points Friday
Fri, Apr 12, 2024, 4:38 PM
Cam Thomas shot 15-of-26 from the field and 7-of-7 from the foul line in Friday's 111-107 loss to the Knicks, tallying 41 points, one rebound, six assists, and four 3-pointers in 37 minutes.
Analysis: Thomas was the one player the Knicks struggled to find an answer for defensively, as he notched his fourth 40-point game of the season. Having scored 21 points or more in nine straight games, Cam is someone to watch if the Nets make him active for Sunday's season finale against the 76ers. While Philadelphia will have playoff seeding to play for, Thomas scored 46 on the 76ers in the final game of last season.
Trendon Watford
BKN starting Thomas, Mikal, Clowney, Watford, Clax
Fri, Apr 12, 2024, 1:13 PM
Brooklyn Nets on X
The Nets will start Cam Thomas, Mikal Bridges, Noah Clowney, Trendon Watford and Nicolas Claxton against the Knicks on Friday.
Analysis: With Dennis Schroder sidelined, Watford will move into the starting unit. This will be his first start of the season, but he has played well off the bench over the past couple of weeks. They're missing a number of rotation pieces, so all of the starters should see big minutes.
Jacob Gilyard
Jacob Gilyard (hip) available Friday vs. Knicks
Fri, Apr 12, 2024, 12:22 PM
Lucas Kaplan on Twitter
Jacob Gilyard (left hip contusion) is available for Friday's game against the Knicks.
Analysis: Gilyard was initially probable for Friday's game, and there's a good chance he will be in the rotation. The Nets are without Dennis Schroder and Dennis Smith Jr., who have been ruled out for the team's final two games of the regular season. Gilyard should not be rostered in active leagues for Friday, but he could be worth a look on Sunday if the minutes are there.
Dennis Schroder
Schroder, Finney-Smith, Smith out Sunday vs. 76ers
Fri, Apr 12, 2024, 12:17 PM
Evan Barnes on Twitter
Already out for Friday's game against the Knicks, Dennis Schroder, Dorian Finney-Smith, and Dennis Smith Jr. will also miss Sunday's game against Philadelphia.
Analysis: Schroder, Finney-Smith, and Smith are all done for the season, with the Nets focused on getting younger players quality minutes for developmental reasons. The former was the most impactful in fantasy basketball this season, ranking just inside the top 150 in season-long value. While Schroder and Finney-Smith should be worth selecting with a late-round pick in drafts next fall, Smith will not.
Dennis Schroder
Schroder, Johnson, Sharpe out Friday vs. Knicks
Fri, Apr 12, 2024, 11:37 AM
NBA Injury Report
Dennis Schroder (right Achilles soreness), Cameron Johnson (left big toe sprain), and Day'Ron Sharpe (right wrist effusion) are out for Friday's game against the Knicks.
Analysis: Brooklyn's rotation will be light on proven bodies Friday night, with Schroder's absence being the most noteworthy. With Dennis Smith Jr. (hip) also sidelined, Cam Thomas could be asked to do more playmaking. Johnson's absence frees up additional minutes for Jalen Wilson, while Sharpe's absence boosts Noah Clowney's value.
Cameron Johnson
Cam Johnson doubtful, Dennis Schroder questionable
Fri, Apr 12, 2024, 7:45 AM
NBA Injury Report
Cam Johnson (left big toe sprain) is doubtful, and Dennis Schroder is questionable for Friday's matchup with the Knicks.
Analysis: Day'Ron Sharpe is also doubtful, which means Noah Clowney should continue to see significant run in the frontcourt. If Schroder is unavailable, Cam Thomas and Jalen Wilson would presumably pick up extra playing time in the backcourt.
Cameron Johnson
Cameron Johnson (toe) questionable Friday vs. NYK

Meghan Triplett on Twitter
Cameron Johnson (left big toe sprain) is questionable for Friday's game against the Knicks.
Analysis: Johnson played in Wednesday's win over the Raptors, logging 27 minutes off the bench. If available on Friday, he would have a similar workload, especially with rookie Noah Clowney playing well as the starting power forward.
Dorian Finney-Smith
Finney-Smith, Smith Jr. ruled out Friday vs. NYK
Thu, Apr 11, 2024, 11:21 AM
Meghan Triplett on Twitter.
Dorian Finney-Smith (left knee effusion) and Dennis Smith Jr. (right hip synovitis) are out for Friday's game against the Knicks.
Analysis: Finney-Smith's absence is more impactful, as he was a starter when healthy. Rookie Noah Clowney, who played well next to Nic Claxton on Wednesday and blocked seven shots, should hold onto that job as the Nets continue to evaluate the first-round pick. As for Smith, his absence means more minutes for starting point guard Dennis Schroder.
Nic Claxton
Nic Claxton posts double-double with five blocks
Wed, Apr 10, 2024, 4:54 PM
Nic Claxton shot 6-of-7 from the field and 2-of-4 from the foul line in Wednesday's win over the Raptors, accounting for 14 points, 11 rebounds, four assists, and five blocked shots in 33 minutes.
Analysis: Claxton returned to the Nets lineup after sitting out Wednesday's loss to the Kings, and he made up for lost time with a solid stat line. The double-double was his second in three games, and before Wednesday, Clax last blocked five shots or more on February 6 against the Mavericks. His return meant a move back to the bench for Jalen Wilson, who finished with two points, six rebounds, and two assists in 20 minutes. Noah Clowney remained in the starting lineup and was spectacular, blocking a career-high seven shots while also tallying 10 points, seven rebounds, one assist, and one steal in 39 minutes. Fantasy managers in active leagues should add Clowney if he's available.
Dennis Schroder
Dennis Schroder posts 21/7/9/2 line vs. Toronto
Wed, Apr 10, 2024, 4:50 PM
Dennis Schroder accounted for 21 points (7-of-18 FGs, 5-of-5 FTs), seven rebounds, nine assists, two steals, and two 3-pointers in 36 minutes in Wednesday's win over the Raptors.
Analysis: After shooting 1-of-12 from the field and scoring four points in Sunday's 30-point loss to the Kings, Schroder bounced back on Wednesday. The veteran point guard has surpassed the 20-point mark for the second time in three games, and the nine assists were the most in a game for Schroder since April 3 against the Pacers (11). With Dennis Smith Jr. (hip) sidelined, Schroder is essentially the only point guard interim coach Kevin Ollie trusts. Whether or not that ensures he'll play in Brooklyn's final two games remains to be seen, but Dennis is in a good place availability-wise.
Cam Thomas
Cam Thomas leads Nets with 23 points vs. Raptors
Wed, Apr 10, 2024, 4:31 PM
Cam Thomas logged 37 minutes in Wednesday's 106-102 win over Toronto, amassing 23 points (7-of-22 FGs, 4-of-4 FTs), five rebounds, one block, and five 3-pointers.
Analysis: Six Nets players finished Wednesday's victory in double figures, with Thomas leading the way. He's scored at least 21 points in eight straight and 15 of his last 16 games, except a 19-point effort against the Knicks on March 23. The lingering concern for fantasy managers in active leagues is that Thomas' minutes could be tapered down during the Nets' final two games, as has been the case with Mikal Bridges (11/3/2 with three 3-pointers in 23 minutes). Thomas has not played fewer than 29 minutes in a game since Valentine's Day; hopefully, that remains true on Friday and Sunday.
Nic Claxton
BKN starting Schroder, Thomas, Mikal, Clowney, Nic
Wed, Apr 10, 2024, 1:05 PM
Evan Barnes on Twitter
Dennis Schroder, Cam Thomas, Mikal Bridges, Noah Clowney, and Nic Claxton will start Wednesday's game against the Raptors.
Analysis: Claxton is back after sitting out Sunday's loss to the Kings, and he will replace Jalen Wilson in the starting lineup. Wilson moving to the bench means Clowney remains with the first unit, as the Nets remain without the injured Dorian Finney-Smith. The three perimeter starters (Schroder, Thomas, and Bridges) are unchanged.
Nic Claxton
Nic Claxton (ankle) active Wednesday vs. Raptors
Wed, Apr 10, 2024, 11:28 AM
NBA injury report
Nic Claxton (left ankle sprain) is listed as active for the Nets' Wednesday matchup with the Raptors.
Analysis: Claxton is ready to play again after sitting for Sunday's game against the Kings. He'll likely resume his starting role and bump Noah Clowney back to the bench. Clowney could still play a significant role as a reserve, though.
Cameron Johnson
Cameron Johnson (toe) cleared to play vs. Toronto
Wed, Apr 10, 2024, 11:26 AM
Brooklyn Nets on X
Cameron Johnson (left big toe sprain) will play against Toronto on Wednesday.
Analysis: Johnson will be back in the lineup after a one-game absence, which was expected after he was initially listed as probable. His return, along with the return of Nic Claxton, will push Jalen Wilson and Noah Clowney back to the bench.
Dennis Smith
Dennis Smith Jr. (hip) out Wednesday vs. Raptors
Tue, Apr 9, 2024, 11:10 AM
Brian Lewis on Twitter
Dennis Smith Jr. (right hip synovitis) has been ruled out for Wednesday's game against the Raptors.
Analysis: Smith will remain sidelined, meaning starting point guard Dennis Schroder will play even more than usual.
Cameron Johnson
Cameron Johnson, Nic Claxton probable Wednesday
Tue, Apr 9, 2024, 11:06 AM
Brian Lewis on Twitter
Cameron Johnson (left big toe sprain) and Nic Claxton (left ankle sprain) are probable for Wednesday's game against Toronto.
Analysis: Johnson and Claxton appear poised to return on Wednesday, pushing Jalen Wilson and Noah Clowney to the bench. With Brooklyn out of postseason contention, Wilson and Clowney should not lack playing time for the final week of the regular season.
