Ziaire Williams
Ziaire Williams sinks four triples, scores 15
Sun, Oct 12, 2025, 4:06 AM
Ziaire Williams tallied 15 points (5-of-8 FGs, 1-of-1 FTs), four rebounds and four three-pointers in Sunday's win over the Suns.
Analysis: After starting 45 of the 63 games he played for the Nets last season, Williams has been used exclusively in a reserve role during the preseason. On Sunday, he shot 4-of-6 from beyond the arc, a positive development for a player who's just a 31.6 percent three-point shooter for his career. During his career-best 2024-25 campaign, however, Williams did shoot 34.1 percent on 4.8 attempts per game. Terance Mann (7/1/0/1/1 with one three-pointer) has started each of Brooklyn's three preseason games, and unless that changes, Williams won't be worth the risk in fantasy leagues, at least to begin the season.
Nic Claxton
Nic Claxton tallies 12 points, nine rebounds
Fri, Oct 10, 2025, 5:44 AM
Nic Claxton accounted for 12 points (5-of-8 FGs, 2-of-3 FTs), nine rebounds and five assists in Friday's exhibition against the Suns.
Analysis: There's no sugarcoating the fact that the 2024-25 season was a disappointment for Claxton, who started slowly and finished with decreased averages in points, rebounds and blocked shots. With this being the second year of the four-year deal he signed in the summer of 2024, maybe some of the pressure will be off of Claxton, especially with it being understood that the Nets are rebuilding. He remains a superior option for managers willing to punt on free-throw percentage, but the rebounds and blocked shots need to improve after they dipped last season.
Michael Porter
Michael Porter Jr. records 13/4/2 line vs. Suns
Fri, Oct 10, 2025, 5:40 AM
Michael Porter Jr. finished Friday's exhibition against the Suns with 13 points (4-of-8 FGs, 3-of-3 FTs), four rebounds, two assists and two three-pointers.
Analysis: Porter has scored 13 points in both of Brooklyn's preseason games, but he's been a prominent figure within Jordi Fernandez's offense. His role will remain prominent due to Brooklyn's lack of proven scorers, with the most significant concern being that MPJ's playing time could decrease during the latter stages of the regular season. Porter's new role in his new home makes him worth the risk for fantasy managers, especially those competing in points leagues.
Cam Thomas
Cam Thomas shines vs. Phoenix, scores 22 points
Fri, Oct 10, 2025, 5:34 AM
Cam Thomas shot 7-of-12 from the field and 6-of-6 from the foul line in Friday's exhibition against the Suns, tallying 22 points, three rebounds, six assists, one steal and two three-pointers.
Analysis: With Thomas deciding in early September to sign his one-year qualifying offer, he'll be an unrestricted free agent next summer. While the Nets guard's scoring ability has rarely been questioned, his ability to make things happen for his teammates has been up for debate. Making strides in that regard would go a long way toward ensuring Thomas gets the lucrative payday he desires. With the Nets embarking on a rebuild, should fantasy managers be concerned about a potential shutdown later in the season? That's certainly something to consider, but Thomas' opportunity will raise his ceiling, at least until the trade deadline.
Michael Porter
Porter Jr. scores 13 points in Brooklyn debut
Sat, Oct 4, 2025, 4:43 PM
Michael Porter Jr. finished with 13 points (5-of-9 FGs), five rebounds, four assists, one steal and two three-pointers in a 123-88 win on Saturday.
Analysis: MPJ made his debut for the Nets after spending the last six years playing for the Nuggets. It was only a preseason game, but he was heavily involved on offense in just 17 minutes of playing time. He has been a reliable spacing wing for Denver, but he should see a huge bump in usage this season in Brooklyn.
Kobe Bufkin
Report: Hawks trade Kobe Bufkin to Brooklyn
Mon, Sep 15, 2025, 10:57 AM
Shams Charania
ESPN's Shams Charania reports the Hawks traded Kobe Bufkin to the Nets for cash considerations.
Analysis: Bufkin, the 15th overall pick in the 2023 NBA Draft, struggled to get his NBA career off the ground in Atlanta. Of course, this wasn't the best spot for the point guard, as Trae Young is a franchise cornerstone and Dejounte Murray was also on the roster during Bufkin's rookie season. Injuries were also an issue for him, having appeared in 27 NBA games during his two seasons in Atlanta. Bufkin's 2024-25 campaign ended in mid-December due to a shoulder injury, but he did start at the point for the Hawks' Summer League team. The trade to Brooklyn gives the former Michigan guard a fresh start and a legitimate opportunity to earn consistent playing time on a rebuilding team. The Nets did use two of their five first-round picks on playmakers in Egor Demin and Nolan Traoré, and they stand to be Bufkin's competition for rotation minutes when training camp opens.
Cam Thomas
Shams: Cam Thomas to sign qualifying offer
Thu, Sep 4, 2025, 1:55 AM
Shams Charania
ESPN's Shams Charania reports Cam Thomas will sign a one-year, $6 million qualifying offer to return to the Nets.
Analysis: Thomas looked long and hard for a long-term deal that met his money expectations, but he wasn't able to find that from any team. Now, he'll bet on himself and return to Brooklyn for one more year before exploring unrestricted free agency next summer. Thomas could be the first domino to fall in restricted free agency, as Josh Giddey, Jonathan Kuminga and Quentin Grimes have all yet to sign contracts.
E.J. Liddell
Nets sign E.J. Liddell to two-way contract
Wed, Sep 3, 2025, 10:51 AM
NBA Transactions
Nets signed E.J. Liddell to a two-way contract.
Analysis: Liddell, who played for the Nuggets during this summer's NBA 2K26 Summer League in Las Vegas, will have another opportunity to solidify his standing in the NBA. While the Nets did add five first-round picks and former Nugget Michael Porter Jr. (via trade) this offseason, the team's rebuilding status may open the door for a two-way player like Liddell to earn minutes. At a minimum, the two-way deal gives the forward an opportunity to compete when training camp opens at the end of the month.
Haywood Highsmith
Shams: Haywood Highsmith traded to Brooklyn
Fri, Aug 15, 2025, 8:59 AM
Shams Charania
ESPN's Shams Charania reports Haywood Highsmith has been traded to the Nets along with a 2032 second-round pick in exchange for a protected 2026 second-round pick.
Analysis: Highsmith has been a solid rotation piece for the Heat in recent seasons and will now head to Brooklyn in what appears to be a cost-cutting move for Miami. Highsmith underwent knee surgery earlier this month and is set to be sidelined until October. If the Nets keep him around, he may not be available for the start of the season.
Ricky Council
Ricky Council IV signs one-year deal with Nets
Fri, Aug 1, 2025, 7:39 AM
Shams Charania
ESPN's Shams Charania reports that Ricky Council IV has signed a one-year deal with the Nets.
Analysis: Council IV saw his playing time nearly double in Year 2 as he logged 17.1 minutes across 73 appearances in 2024-25. In 12 starts, the Arkansas product averaged 12.9 points and 6.2 rebounds. He could see meaningful rotation minutes for Brooklyn during the upcoming campaign.
Cam Thomas
Report: Nets, Cam Thomas far apart on extension
Tue, Jul 29, 2025, 5:14 AM
Marc Stein
NBA insider Jake Fischer reports the Nets have been “hesitant” to offer restricted free agent Cam Thomas a long-term deal.
Analysis: With Thomas being a restricted free agent and most teams lacking the cap space needed to produce an offer sheet that the Nets would not match, the franchise holds all the leverage in the negotiations. According to Fischer, “the Nets' offers to date have not exceeded two-year proposals featuring an annual average value in the range of the league's $14.1 million non-taxpayer midlevel exception.” And those offers include a team option for the second season. Thomas can continue to play the “waiting game” in hopes of landing a more lucrative proposal from the Nets, and there's also the possibility of accepting his qualifying offer, which would make him an unrestricted free agent next summer. Given Brooklyn's lack of proven scorers, sticking around could boost his fantasy value, especially in points leagues.
Tosan Evbuomwan
Tosan Evbuomwan struggles in Las Vegas finale
Fri, Jul 18, 2025, 2:21 PM
Tosan Evbuomwan shot 2-of-14 from the field and 2-of-4 from the foul line in Friday's loss to the 76ers, scoring six points with six rebounds, four assists and two steals.
Analysis: While Evbuomwan did not shoot the ball well on Friday, his all-around ability was on display. In addition to his rebounding, the former Princeton standout can facilitate offensively. Evbuomwan is on a two-way deal, which will limit his opportunities once the regular season begins. However, given the amount of youth on Brooklyn's roster, there may come times when Tosan is allowed to play rotation minutes. Whether or not he's worth streaming in those spots will depend on the health of those ahead of him in the pecking order.
De'Anthony Melton
Report: Warriors “strong contender” for Melton
Tue, Jul 8, 2025, 9:15 AM
Marc Stein
NBA Insider Marc Stein reports the Warriors have emerged as a strong contender to acquire De'Anthony Melton in free agency.
Analysis: The Warriors gave Melton the full midlevel exception last offseason, but lost the 27-year-old shooting guard to a season-ending ACL injury six games into the season. Melton was traded along with three future second-round picks to the Nets for Dennis Schroder in midseason, but he could be on his way back to Golden State this offseason.
Michael Porter
Shams: Nuggets trade Michael Porter Jr. to Nets
Mon, Jun 30, 2025, 1:11 PM
Shams Charania
ESPN's Shams Charania reports the Nuggets are trading F Michael Porter Jr. and an unprotected 2032 first-round pick to the Nets for F Cam Johnson.
Analysis: Due to the amount of money locked into their most important players, the Nuggets had limited options to improve their roster. One of those options was to trade Porter, and they've reportedly done so. Having struggled with injuries early in his career, MPJ has played 77 and 81 games in his last two seasons. In 2024-25, he averaged 18.2 points, 7.0 rebounds, 2.1 assists and 2.5 three-pointers per game, shooting 50.4 percent from the field and 76.8 percent from the foul line. While Porter is no longer on a team with immediate championship ambitions, he moves to a spot where there's the chance to provide added fantasy value. Porter's ADP should increase substantially in the fall.
Day'Ron Sharpe
Day'Ron Sharpe inks two-year deal with Brooklyn
Mon, Jun 30, 2025, 7:03 AM
Shams Charania
ESPN's Shams Charania reports PF/C Day'Ron Sharpe will re-sign with the Nets.
Analysis: It'll be a two-year, $12 million contract per Charania. Sharpe finished with 7.9 points and 6.6 rebounds across 18.2 minutes in his fourth season, setting new career-best marks in all three categories. In his age-24 season, he'll compete with rookie Danny Wolf for backup minutes behind Nic Claxton.
Ziaire Williams
Ziaire Williams to sign two-year deal with Nets
Mon, Jun 30, 2025, 6:46 AM
Shams Charania
ESPN's Shams Charania reports F Ziaire Williams will sign a two-year, $12 million deal to return to the Nets.
Analysis: Williams averaged 10 points and 4.3 boards across 63 games with Brooklyn last season. His impact in the realm of fantasy hoops was muted, and even on a rebuilding Brooklyn team, his impact in 2025-26 will likely be the same.
Keon Johnson
Nets exercise team option for Keon Johnson
Sat, Jun 28, 2025, 8:57 AM
C.J. Holmes
Nets exercised team options for Keon Johnson, Tyrese Martin, Jalen Wilson and Drew Timme.
Analysis: Brooklyn picked up the team options of all four players, which shouldn't come as a surprise. All four held streaming value at some point last season, but there is no guarantee that continues next year. With five first-round picks entering the rotation, plus other players returning, there may not be enough minutes to go around. There is no reason to consider rostering any of these players until silly season in March.
Terance Mann
Terance Mann dealt to Brooklyn in Porzingis trade
Tue, Jun 24, 2025, 1:12 PM
Shams Charania
Terance Mann has been traded to the Nets as part of the Kristaps Porzingis trade.
Analysis: Mann spent most of his career with the Clippers before being sent to Atlanta at the trade deadline in February. Now, he'll find a new home in Brooklyn, where he'll provide perimeter defense and a veteran presence in the locker room on a young team that is looking to establish an identity over the next few seasons. Assuming he isn't moved again, Mann should play a decent-sized role for the Nets, but he won't be prioritized over the young players, especially with Brooklyn now having five first-round picks.
Nic Claxton
Nic Claxton plays 22 minutes in season finale
Sun, Apr 13, 2025, 10:08 AM
Nic Claxton tallied 12 points (5-of-6 FGs, 2-of-3 FTs) and two rebounds in 22 minutes in Sunday's loss to the Knicks.
Analysis: After a disappointing start to the season, Claxton was able to redeem himself steadily. The Nets center finished as a seventh-round player in free-throw punt builds, which is only one round worse than his Yahoo! ADP. That said, Claxton's rebounding and blocked shot production decreased, with the averages of 7.4 rebounds and 1.4 blocks being the lowest for him since the 2021-22 campaign. He'll remain a key building block for the Nets next season, but the team is undoubtedly hoping that he'll be more effective on the glass and as a defender.
Nic Claxton
BKN starting Martin, Keon, Wilson, Watford, Clax
Sun, Apr 13, 2025, 6:48 AM
NBA Lineups
Tyrese Martin, Keon Johnson, Jalen Wilson, Trendon Watford and Nic Claxton will start Sunday's game against the Knicks.
Analysis: Claxton is back after sitting out Friday's loss to the Timberwolves. While Precious Achiuwa should be a good matchup for him, fantasy managers in active leagues should assume Claxton will not log starters' minutes in the regular-season finale. Johnson, Watford and Wilson offer decent fantasy ceilings for Sunday's loaded schedule.
